Our partner school
Our partner school Divya-Jyoti in India
Förderverein Hohenbergschule – Divya-Jyoti-Patenschule
Our partner school, Divya-Jyoti, is located in the Mandya Mission, in the state of Karnataka, South India. This school was managed and developed by Father Sebastian, who also administered our donated funds.
Objective
The goal of the support association is to assist Father Sebastian's successor, currently Father Francis, in providing a solid education to as many people as possible to save them from dependence on large landowners and thus from social impoverishment. Due to the good upbringing and education that the people around Father Francis provide, an increasing number of parents from the surrounding villages want to send their children to the school in the Mandya Mission. Experiences from recent years confirm that only through good education can the situation of the children and thus the population be improved. Therefore, our support for the further expansion of the Divya-Jyoti sister school is so important.
Founding of a Support Association
Following the tsunami disaster in December 2004, students of Hohenbergschule collected donations to support the victims of this devastating tidal wave. The money was then transferred to Father Sebastian, who was living there at the time, and he forwarded it to the appropriate places.
Moved by this willingness to help, Father Sebastian eventually requested support for the construction of his school as well. As a result, in June 2005, Hohenbergschule took on a sponsorship for this school. Since then, efforts have been repeatedly initiated to support the construction of the sister school. To put this financial support on a legally solid foundation, the support association "Hohenbergschule – Divya-Jyothi Patenschule" was established on December 4, 2006.
